3865 NO. 1 Built 1920 - Pat Collins - Survived
This engine was purchased to provide power for Collin's Scenic Whales managed by Miss Clara Mullett, who later became Pat Collins second wife. Collins' acquired her to drive their No 1 Scenic Railway ride. Before the war the engine was dismantled for repair and rebuilt in the late 1940's, reputedly using the auxiliary dynamo from Lord Curzon. She was then used to power the Lakin Odeon fronted waltzer. She is believed to be the last Scenic-type engine seen working in the fairgrounds and when the Scenic ride was eventually taken off the road she powered the Collin's Noahs Ark ride. In 1961 John Crawley was with his Fowler 'Iron Maiden' (Kitchener) at a steam rally in Windsor Great Park when he was approached by John Collins, son of Pat Collins. He was invited to visit the Collins yard at Bloxwich and given the choice of Foster 14446 The Leader or Burrell 3865 No 1. He chose No 1.
