LIVERY BY ENGINE
Most Showmen wanted their engines lined out to add to the spectacle of the fair ride. Many engines had real gold leaf lining, either on all the paintwork or just the boiler. The most popular combination was crimson lake boiler/tender with yellow wheels. Some engines were all crimson lake and some were cromson lake with bright red wheels. One engine was blue (because the owner liked the Great Eastern Railway blue!) with yellow wheels. The yellow was usually a bright, chrome yellow but some engines had a warmer yellow (straw). The list below shows the colours used when the engine was built. The first word below is the colour for the tender/boiler and the second word is for the wheels.

4 Scenic engines went back to factory to be converted to "Special Scenics":
