ELECTRIC SCENIC RAILWAY RIDES - LIST OF OWNERS/MAKERS
The Electric Scenic Railways were the largest rides regularly travelled by Showmen in the last century. They need a team of ten men to manage them. Most were 50 feet in diameter and 35 feet tall with huge rounding boards. Each ride took eight trucks to move it from fair to fair. The cost of an Electric Scenic Ride was prohibitive and many were acquired by hire purchase schemes offered by Orton & Spooner. Many Showmen were forced into giving up the rides when they could no longer make the payments to the makers.
